A Brief Summary of What We Believe

The Bible

We accept the Bible as the inspired and inerrant Word of God.

The Creation

We believe that God created the entire universe in six consecutive 24-hour days out of nothing by his almighty Word.

Sin

We believe that humankind fell into sin when Adam and Eve disobeyed God. For this reason, all people are born sinful, all people are totally corrupt, all people are doomed to hell, and all people are in need of a Savior.

God's Love

We believe that God out of love for humankind sent his Son to save all people. Jesus, true God and true man, lived a perfect life, suffered the punishment for sin, and physically rose from the dead. The purpose of these acts was to make peace with God for all people.

Faith

We believe that God the Holy Spirit uses his gospel message in Word and Sacraments to create faith in Jesus and thus save those who believe.

Our Purpose

The continuing purpose of First Lutheran Church is, as a gathering of Christians, to serve all people in God's world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
